The root of all things.

ວ່າດ້ວຍມູນເຫດແຫ່ງທຳທັງປວງ

Thus have I heard.
On one occasion the Blessed One was living in Ukkaṭṭhā in the Subhaga Grove at the root of a royal sāla tree. There he addressed the bhikkhus thus: “Bhikkhus.”—“Venerable sir,” they replied. The Blessed One said this:

“Bhikkhus, I shall teach you a discourse on the root of all things. Listen and attend closely to what I shall say.”—“Yes, venerable sir,” the bhikkhus replied. The Blessed One said this:

1 The Ordinary Person
“Here, bhikkhus, an untaught ordinary person, who has no regard for noble ones and is unskilled and undisciplined in their Dhamma, who has no regard for true men and is unskilled and undisciplined in their Dhamma.
Perceives earth as earth. Having perceived earth as earth, he conceives himself as earth, he conceives himself in earth, he conceives himself apart from earth, he conceives earth to be ‘mine,’ he delights in earth.
Why is that? Because he has not fully understood it, I say.

ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າໄດ້ສະດັບມາຢ່າງນີ້
ສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກປະທັບຢູ່ ນະ ຕົ້ນໄມ້ໃຫຍ່ສາລະ ໃນສຸພະຄະວັນ ເຂດເມືອງອຸກກັດຖາ ນະ ທີ່ນັ້ນ ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກຕັດຮຽກພິກສຸທັງຫຼາຍວ່າ
‘‘ດູກອນພິກສຸທັງຫຼາຍ’’ ພິກສຸເຫຼົ່ານັ້ນທູນຮັບ ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກວ່າ ‘‘ໂດຍ ຂ້ານ້ອຍ’’ ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກໄດ້ຕັດພະພຸດທະພົດນີ້ວ່າດູກອນພິກສຸທັງຫຼາຍ ເຮົາຈັກສະແດງປະຣິຍາຍະອັນເປັນມູນຂອງທຳທັງປວງແກ່ພວກທ່ານ ພວກທ່ານຈົ່ງຟັງ ຈົ່ງໃສ່ໃຈໃຫ້ດີ ເຮົາຈັກກ່າວ
ພິກສຸເຫຼົ່ານັ້ນ ທູນຮັບພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກວ່າ ‘ໂດຍ ຂ້ານ້ອຍ’’.

ນັຍທີ່ ໑ ວ່າດ້ວຍປຸຖຸຊົນ
ດູກ່ອນພິກສຸທັງຫລາຍ ປຸຖຸຊົນໃນໂລກນີ້ ບໍ່ໄດ້ສະດັບ ບໍ່ໄດ້ເຫັນພຣະອະຣິຍະ ບໍ່ສະຫລາດໃນຯດັມຂອງພຣະອະຣິຍະ ບໍ່ໄດ້ຮັບແນະນຳໃນທັມຂອງພຣະອະຣິຍະ ບໍ່ໄດ້ເຫັນສັດບູຣຸດ ບໍ່ສະຫລາດໃນທັມຂອງສັດບູຣຸດ ບໍ່ໄດ້ຮັບແນະນຳໃນທັມຂອງສັດບູຣຸດ
ຍ່ອມຮູ້ທາດດິນໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດດິນ ເມື່ອຮູ້ທາດດິນໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດດິນແລ້ວ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນວ່າເປັນທາດດິນ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນໃນທາດດິນ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນນອກທາດດິນ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນທາດດິນວ່າ ຂອງເຮົາ ຍ່ອມຍິນດີໃນທາດດິນ
ຂໍ້ນັ້ນເພາະເຫດຫຍັງ ເຮົາກ່າວວ່າ ເພາະທ່ານບໍ່ໄດ້ກຳນົດຮູ້.
“He perceives water as water. Having perceived water as water, he conceives himself as water, he conceives himself in water, he conceives himself apart from water, he conceives water to be ‘mine,’ he delights in water.
Why is that? Because he has not fully understood it, I say.

ຍ່ອມຮູ້ທາດນ້ຳໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດນ້ຳ ເມື່ອຮູ້ທາດນ້ຳໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດນ້ຳແລ້ວ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນວ່າເປັນທາດນ້ຳ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນໃນທາດນ້ຳ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນນອກທາດນ້ຳ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນທາດນ້ຳວ່າ ຂອງເຮົາ ຍ່ອມຍິນດີໃນທາດນ້ຳ
ຂໍ້ນັ້ນເພາະເຫດຫຍັງ ເຮົາກ່າວວ່າ ເພາະທ່ານບໍ່ໄດ້ກຳນົດຮູ້.

ຍ່ອມຮູ້ທາດໄຟໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດໄຟ ເມື່ອຮູ້ທາດໄຟໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດໄຟແລ້ວ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນວ່າເປັນທາດໄຟ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນໃນທາດໄຟ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນນອກ ທາດໄຟ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນທາດໄຟວ່າ ຂອງເຮົາ ຍ່ອມຍິນດີທາດໄຟ
ຂໍ້ນັ້ນເພາະເຫດຫຍັງ ເຮົາກ່າວວ່າ ເພາະທ່ານບໍ່ໄດ້ກຳນົດຮູ້.

ຍ່ອມຮູ້ທາດລົມໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດລົມ ເມື່ອຮູ້ທາດລົມໂດຍຄວາມເປັນທາດລົມແລ້ວ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນວ່າເປັນທາດລົມ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນໃນທາດລົມ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນນອກທາດລົມ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນທາດລົມວ່າ ຂອງເຮົາ ຍ່ອມຍິນດີທາດລົມ
ຂໍ້ນັ້ນເພາະເຫດຫຍັງ ເຮົາກ່າວວ່າ ເພາະທ່ານບໍ່ໄດ້ກຳນົດຮູ້.

“He perceives beings as beings. Having perceived beings as beings, he conceives beings, he conceives himself in beings, he conceives himself apart from beings, he conceives beings to be ‘mine,’ he delights in beings.
Why is that? Because he has not fully understood it, I say.

ຍ່ອມຮູ້ສັດໂດຍຄວາມເປັນສັດ ເມື່ອຮູ້ສັດໂດຍຄວາມເປັນສັດແລ້ວ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນວ່າເປັນສັດ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນໃນສັດ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນນອກສັດ ຍ່ອມສຳຄັນສັດວ່າ ຂອງເຮົາ ຍ່ອມຍິນດີໃນສັດ
ຂໍ້ນັ້ນເພາະເຫດຫຍັງ ເຮົາກ່າວວ່າ ເພາະທ່ານບໍ່ໄດ້ກຳນົດຮູ້.
